Rate and Recommend Blogware

topic posted Wed, December 24, 2003 - 3:47 AM by  Michael David
I am not a blogger(yet) but am interested in becoming one. I need to know where to look for software/freeware/shareware that will enable me to set up a good blog. I know there are several packages out there, but do not know what they are or their advantages and disadvantages over one another. Where should I look, what should I look for, and why? My first concern will be functionality to enable about a dozen close friends to stay in touch with each other making posts related to a certain topic we all share a common interest in.

I came here for that, to set up a tribe for this purpose, but wonder if a blog might not be a better idea?

All help appreciated.

Hi Michael, I started blogging with Blogger (at www.blogger.com). It is simple, easy to set up, it is free, and runs on their server or on your domain, whichever you prefer. And you can "invite" people to your blog and give them posting privileges so you can all keep a group blog.

I'd say it's the best way to get started. I have moved on to Typepad (www.typepad.com) which has more features, and more built-in functionality, but for starters, if you just want to check it out and get used to the blogworld, I think Blogger is a great way to go.
